FITCHBURG — June 23, 2026 — Fitchburg Finance Committee advances seven infrastructure and planning resolutions in a single evening. The committee unanimously approved sending to the Common Council a $773,654.95 paved-shoulders bid for Wayland Road, awarded to Payne and Dolan Incorporated, as well as a $286,910 athletic court renovation contract for Swan Creek and Wildwood South parks that includes full-surface fiberglass coating and dual tennis-pickleball striping. A contract with Chicago-based planning firm Houseal Lavigne was approved to overhaul the city's comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance over two sequential 18-month phases, ultimately consolidating the city's current smart code and Euclidean zoning into a single form-based code. The committee also approved a not-to-exceed $25,000 contract with the Capital Area Regional Planning Commission to continue boundary-area planning talks with the Village of Oregon in southeast Fitchburg, with costs split evenly. Finance Director Misty announced a roughly one-month delay to the rollout of the city's new UKG payroll software, citing unresolved issues identified during a parallel payroll test.
