FITCHBURG — Water/Wastewater Commission approves prior minutes, hears FY27 budget overviews. The commission unanimously approved minutes from three prior meetings, then received preliminary draft budgets from Water Division Deputy Commissioner John M. Deline Jr. and Wastewater Division Deputy Commissioner Mark McNamara without voting.
The already-approved 5 percent water and sewer rate increase takes effect June 1, 2026, with another 5 percent increase set for June 1, 2027. The commission will vote on final budgets in May. Key projects include the Main Street Water Main Replacement and the Mare Meadow Pump Station Rehabilitation, which can now proceed after City Council approved and recorded an easement with National Grid.
