Water & Wastewater Commission · Meeting of July 15, 2026

Fitchburg Water Commission deferred the deputy water chief hire pending further review. The commission voted 5-0 with one abstention to table confirmation of Lawrence K. Durkin, citing insufficient time to vet the candidate, who holds a D4 water distribution license and most recently worked for the Town of Lawrence.

Members also approved reallocation of approximately $2 million to replace water mains on Rodimon and Exeter streets, subject to City Council approval, and voted to increase septage dumping rates from 8.5 cents to 10 cents per gallon effective September 1, with further increases to 11 and 12 cents in subsequent years.
