FITCHBURG — Water Commission unanimously appoints John M. Deline Jr. Deputy Commissioner of Wastewater.

Commissioner of Public Works Nicholas Erickson moved to confirm Deline with a 7-0 vote; Mark McNamara will retire but consult part-time during transition. The Water Division successfully switched treatment plant coagulants to reduce aluminum and iron content, completed water system work on the Water Street MassDOT Bridge Project, and expects the Main Street Water Main Replacement to finish by late summer. The Wastewater Division reported CSO 032 by the Art Museum 45 percent complete and CSO 045 and 083 downtown projects 95 percent complete in design with spring bidding; CSO 004 near Depot Road entered investigation stage.
