Planning Board · Meeting of February 24, 2026

Fitchburg Planning Board unanimously approved site plan modifications for the Amazon distribution facility at 135 Intervale Road. The board authorized two accessory buildings and required the applicant to fund $315,000 toward Intervale Road improvements, including traffic safety measures at the railroad bridge underpass after members raised sight-distance concerns. Board members agreed to allow vehicle maintenance limited to delivery vehicles used in site operations.

In separate unanimous votes, the board recommended three zoning amendments to City Council: extending marijuana establishment hours from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., authorizing delivery couriers and operators in industrial zones subject to special permits, and updating site plan procedures and permit timelines. Paula Caron and Paul Fontaine, Jr. were unanimously re-elected as Chair and Vice Chair for 2026.
