MRPC approves $207,474 in technical assistance grants for 2026.

FITCHBURG — Montachusett Regional Planning Commission awards $207,474 in planning assistance across region. At the March 5 remote meeting, the commissioners unanimously approved conditional grants for 12 communities, including funding for zoning updates in Winchendon and Ashburnham, commercial zoning studies in Hubbardston and Lunenburg, and housing production plan updates. Commissioners also unanimously authorized out-of-state travel for Executive Director Glenn Eaton and Planning and Development Director Bernie Cahill to attend brownfields conferences in Portland, Maine, in May and Newport, Rhode Island, in December, with anticipated costs of $2,000 and up to $3,500 respectively, charged to the EPA-MRPC Brownfields contract.

Chairman Kristofer Munroe called for volunteers to the Nominating Committee as the commission prepares for Eaton's retirement.
