Library Trustees consider Fitchburg Fiber as new internet provider

Fitchburg Library Trustees heard a pitch from Fitchburg Fiber about becoming the library's internet provider when it relocates to 610 Main Street in October, with decision-making urgent because the current contract expires in June. Representatives Andrew DeChristopher and Tristan Taylor outlined their service to 150 downtown Fitchburg businesses and noted no contract would be required. The board expressed preference for a local company.
Director Deb Hinkle reported the library received 40 new hotspot devices from an MBI Digital Equity grant, expanding the lending program to 60 total devices, and announced that Daniel Spigelmyer has been appointed to the board. The Building Committee reported concrete pouring, data cable installation, and lower-level wall framing underway at the new location.
