Fitchburg City Council approves $221 million FY 2027 budget with tax-relief transfers. Council President Anthony Zarrella and ten councilors (Cragin absent) unanimously approved a General Fund of $191.371 million, Water Enterprise of $9.997 million, Wastewater Enterprise of $18.317 million, and Airport Fund of $1.138 million. The Council appropriated $1.138 million from overlay surplus, the Stabilization Fund, available funds, and ARPA reserves to reduce the tax levy.
Two full-time police appointments, Patrick P. Flathers and Carly Poirier, were unanimously approved. Two Unitil utility pole petitions on Rollstone Road were granted unanimously.
Orders for fire-safety grants totaling $12,746.21 and community development block grant orders were handled; the City Clerk position grade was increased from 13 to 14.
