Fitchburg City Council approves $221.8 million FY2027 budget package. Council President Anthony Zarrella presided as the council voted on fourteen budget orders presented by Mayor Samantha Squailia, setting the general fund at $191.4 million, water enterprise at $9.997 million, wastewater enterprise at $18.3 million, and airport fund at $1.137 million. The council authorized $4.876 million in transfers from overlay surplus, stabilization fund, available funds, and ARPA accounts to reduce the tax levy.
An ordinance adding FY2027 step assignments for municipal employees was also adopted, with the council approving expenditure authority for a new Planning Board advertising revolving fund and thirteen existing revolving funds.
