Council on Aging approves prior meeting minutes, reaffirms parking concerns

FITCHBURG — The Fitchburg Council on Aging approved a Board-signed letter to Mayor Squailia expressing concerns about parking and pedestrian access near the Senior Center in light of the proposed Elm Street Corridor Improvement Grant project. Chair Todd Goodwin and Executive Director Amanda Koeck reported that the masonry project at the facility is expected to begin soon after the Finance Committee certified $25,000 in free cash on March 11, 2026. Koeck forwarded the names of Jim Craigen, Bonnie Hautala, Joe Byrne, and Margaret Padovano to the Mayor for reappointment to three-year terms.
The Board's current officers Goodwin, Vice Chair Byrne, and Recording Secretary Deborah Dion signaled willingness to seek reelection, with the final slate presented at the April 9, 2026, meeting and elections occurring May 14, 2026.
