City Council finalizes parking ordinance; approves City Clerk pay increase

Fitchburg City Council approves parking restrictions ordinance and splits on clerk pay. The council unanimously adopted on final reading an ordinance adding Article VIII to Chapter 132, establishing Municipal Parking Garage Restrictions, signed by the Mayor on May 12. In a contested vote, the council approved 7-3 a proposal from President Anthony Zarrella and Vice President Derrick Cruz to increase the City Clerk grade from 13 to 14, with Councilors Paul Beauchemin, Joseph Bowen, and Kevin Starr voting against.
The council also unanimously approved installing a stop sign at Montrose Street and Dartmouth Street and granting leave to withdraw on a 130 Lancaster Street guardrail request.
