City Council approves zoning ordinance on marijuana operations

Fitchburg City Council approves marijuana zoning ordinance. The council voted 9 to 1 on the ordinance's final reading, with Councilor Paul Beauchemin opposed. The measure extends permitted hours for marijuana establishments and expands delivery courier and operator zones, along with revisions to site plan procedures and the "Transportation Terminal" definition.

In separate votes, the council approved three fire department budget transfers totaling $100,000: $24,535.68 from a Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant for radio system tools, $60,000 from the fire holiday account to overtime, and $40,000 from municipal reserves to overtime. The council also granted two parking petitions as amended.
