Fitchburg City Council approves $1.1 million in CDBG Year 52 appropriations. The council adopted 22 orders under suspension of rules, distributing federal Community Development Block Grant funds across parks and recreation, riverfront development, code enforcement, social services, youth mentoring, and downtown economic initiatives. Most orders passed unanimously; Order 079-26 for $140,000 in Riverfront Park Stage Construction drew two no votes from Vice President Derrick Cruz and Councilor Amy Green, while Order 098-26 seeking $75,316 for Building Department code enforcement initially failed a hold motion before passing 8 to 2.
The council also unanimously approved a $93,048.83 transfer to pay FATV the first quarter 2026 cable franchise fee and referred two Tax-Increment Exemption petitions and related grant expenditures to committee for further review.
