FITCHBURG — City Council approves $1.1 million in appropriations. The Fitchburg City Council unanimously approved four appropriation orders totaling approximately $1.1 million on March 17, allocating funds to municipal infrastructure and services. The spending included $750,000 from the Wastewater Enterprise Fund for engineering work, $318,000 for department of public works capital equipment, $25,000 for Council on Aging improvements, and $11,416.73 to cover a snow and ice deficit.
The council also adopted an ordinance amending procedures for temporary appointments, then voted 9-2 to send it to first and second reading, with Councilors Joseph Bowen and Bernard Schultz III opposed.
