Board approves septic system replacement, schedules tobacco regulations hearing
Board of Health · Meeting of February 5, 2026
Fitchburg Board of Health approves septic system replacement and tobacco hearing. The Board unanimously approved a septic system replacement at 717 Mt. Elam Road, allowing three-foot separation from seasonal high groundwater instead of the standard four feet.
The Presby system will serve an existing three-bedroom residence on municipal water. The Board continued its hearing on a revised septic design at 185 High Rock Road to allow an abutter time to review the plan with his engineer, requiring annual private well water testing for five years. It also unanimously approved proposed tobacco control regulations and scheduled a public hearing for March 12, 2026, incorporating state law while maintaining local regulations with new retail-density and nicotine-pouch restrictions.
