Airport Commission approves JMAC land-lease study with FAA waiver request
Airport Commission · Meeting of January 21, 2026
Fitchburg Airport Commission authorizes feasibility study for JMAC vehicle-storage lease. The Commission voted 3-1 on January 21 to authorize Airport Manager Russ Cornelia to approach the FAA about leasing approximately 30,000 square feet of former boneyard land to JMAC Asset Recovery, requiring an FAA aviation-land waiver. Chair Clayton R.
Raymond expressed concern about setting precedent for non-aviation use, though Commissioner Paul Hathaway noted involvement of the Conservation Commission would be necessary given bird habitat on the site. The Commission also directed Airport Manager Cornelia to formalize a Pilots Lounge rental policy at seventy-five dollars for four hours for off-airport users, with no charge for airport tenants.
